Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Duck Valley Irrigation/Water Department ("we," "us," or "the Department"), a department of the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation, collects, uses, and protects the information of water users and tract owners we serve.
Information We Collect
When you register for or use our water services, we may collect:
- Your name and the tract number(s) associated with your water service
- Your mobile phone number and, optionally, email address
- Service records such as water on/off status and request history
You provide this information directly to Department staff, in person or by phone, when registering for water service.
How We Use Your Information
- To deliver and manage your water service
- To send you service notifications by text message (SMS), such as when irrigation water to your tract is turned on or off, system-wide water shutoff notices, and drinking-water advisories
- To respond to your requests and contact you about your service
Text Messaging (SMS)
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information collected as part of the SMS consent process will not be shared with any third parties. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent is never shared with any third parties.
We may share information only with service providers who help us operate the notification system (for example, our SMS delivery provider), strictly to deliver these messages on our behalf. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP, and reply HELP for help. See our SMS Terms & Conditions for details.
Data Retention & Security
We retain your information only as long as needed to provide water services and meet our record-keeping obligations, and we take reasonable measures to protect it from unauthorized access.
Your Choices
You may ask us to update or remove your contact information, or stop receiving text notifications, at any time by contacting the Department or replying STOP to any message.
